Effective Hair Removal Can Be Achieved
Posted May 22, 2009
Millions of people today are burdened with a situation known as "unwanted hair". Good news though: there's never been a better time to deal with unwanted hair then now!
There are variety of reasons to want hair removed from the body. Millions and millions of women devote time on a regular basis to hair removal, shaving legs, plucking eyebrows, shaving armpits, trimming down their bikini line, and on and on. Many adult men have to shave daily to keep up with their facial hair growth. Bodybuilders, swimmers, and other athletes may even shave their entire bodies in preparation for a competition! While these reasons are mostly cosmetic, there are also medical reasons to have hair removed. People with hypertrichosis would fall into this classification.
Now when it comes time to get this hair removal done, you can take the quick and easy temporary route, or seek a more permanent solution. Choose the former and get ready to repeat the process in short order! Use a more modern method (which we'll talk about momentarily) and you can forget about your hair problems for a while.
Electrolysis treats hair follicles on an individual basis. An electrolysis tech will inject a tiny needle into the hair follicle area and send an electrical charge to kill off its ability to generate hair. This need and electric zap can be painful, and the process can take months to complete. Potential side effects are also somewhat unsavory: possible scarring and the risk of infection. Another unwanted side effect: high cost! Doing one leg may cost as much as $2,000 by the time you are done!
With the advent of laser hair removal technology folks are able to experience a fairly permanent state of hairlessness with far less pain than electrolysis. Just as in electrolysis, hair follicle's reproductive abilities are reduced, but in this case by using a concentrated beam of light energy to do the damage. Best results are achieved on light-skinned people with darker colored hair. While the cost for laser hair removal is also high, the reduced level of physical pain will hopefully make it easier to absorb the blow. Modern laser hair removal has been approved by the American FDA when done by trained pro's.
Speaking of the FDA, they have also approved what is called the "pulsed laser" method. Follicles are destroyed using a short pulse of laser energy. This method is preferred for sensitive areas of the skin, such as the armpit and your privates! Hair and skin color do not have nearly the effect as standard "old-school" laser hair removal as well.
Now is a great time to be hairy, as unwanted hair removal is easier and more available than ever before!
