Laser Hair Removal and Other Hair Removal Treatments
Posted Jan 12, 2009
If you have unwanted body hair, you are most likely quite familiar with body hair removal treatments. Laser hair removal is a long-lasting or permanent hair removal system with many benefits. Other hair removal treatments can offer temporary results. Examining your options is one of the best ways to decide if laser hair removal is truly for you.
Waxing. Most people that use waxing for unwanted hair removal do waxing sessions approximately once a month. Waxing can be done for the face and also the body. The wax feels warm and gooey when it goes onto the skin and then when the strip of cotton is pulled off the skin it can sting for a quick moment. This can remind you of when you were a child and your mother took a band aid off very quickly so it wouldn’t hurt by taking it off slowly. Waxing can be expensive if you go to a salon. It can be messy if you do it at-home by yourself. Many people combine waxing with plucking as waxing does not always pick up every fine hair.
Plucking. Plucking is an inexpensive choice for unwanted hair removal. Plucking can be uncomfortable, as you feel the root of the hair leave your skin each time, and each hair must be removed separately. Many people that pluck out their unwanted hair once a month. But some find that they must pluck hair at a more frequent interval. A challenge of plucking hair is that it can be hard to grasp smaller hairs and you may need to wait for some of them to grow out in order to grasp them with your tweezers.
Electrolysis. Many have turned to electrolysis for unwanted hair removal. Electrolysis takes much longer than laser hair removal, typically at least two to three times as long for the sessions. A laser moves quite quickly, but the electrolysis technician moves much more slowly. There is typically some discomfort associated with electrolysis.
Depilatorities. These are a popular way for unwanted hair removal. Depilatories can have very strong odors. They can also sting or tingle as people wear them while they are working to remove the hair. Some may find they irritate their skin, though some are made specifically for sensitive skin or even for the bikini area. Using a depilatory on a regular basis, most will use them once a month. Depilatories are a bit messy. These are an at-home procedure.
Shaving. Some people shave unwanted hair. This can be inexpensive, but with shaving you must typically shave on a daily or weekly basis to maintain results. Shaving also means that the hair does not get removed from the root, the external hair is simply removed.
Laser Hair Removal. Laser hair removal has long-lasting or permanent results. Many potential clients will ask “What do treatments feel like?” Those experiencing laser hair treatments often feel a slight stinging sensation. The sensation is temporary. Treatments are quick and most sessions last for less than an hour. Most clients have several sessions. The number of sessions will vary depending on hair color, skin type and hair coarseness (thickness). Lots of people select laser hair removal as their unwanted hair removal treatment option. It is convenient, safe and offers long-lasting if not permanent results.
